Sidekicks was formed in January of 2004 .In only a matter of months this foursome  worked their way to a bronze medal at the Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio. They then set a goal, not only to return to the Buckeye, but to win it. They did return in August of 2005, where after a year of hard work  they captured the National Mixed Quartet Championship!

Tenor Jessica Thompson of Jackson has been involved in barbershop harmony for nine years. She currently is the Musical Director of the Capitol City Chordsmen (Lansing Chapter- Barbershop Harmony Society) and has also directed the Water Wonderland Chorus (Lansing, SAI), and has sung in several SAI quartets. Jessica is a medical receptionist.

Paula Hoffman is the newest member of the group and a five-year barbershop harmony singer. She sings lead in the quartet, and is a member of Sweet Adelines International and sings with the Water Wonderland Chorus  and the quartet High Fidelity. Paula teaches Special Education  in the Grand Ledge Public Schools.

Mike Hansen of Lansing also alternates singing lead and baritone. A thirteen-year barbershopper and member of the Lansing Chapter, Mike has also sung with many quartets, and is a tag junkie!  He is the President and CEO of the Michigan Community College Association.

Brian Dunckel of Haslett sings bass and is a twelve-year member of the Lansing Chapter. He currently serves in leadership positions of the Barbershop Harmony Society at both the International and District levels. Competing in two International Chorus Contests had been his barbershop highlight before singing in Sidekicks, his first quartet. Brian is a retired  teacher.

Despite only being together a relatively short time, Sidekicks has performed all over Michigan, as well as in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and in Ontario, Canada.
